Career

Kojima participated in the first AKB48's audition in 2005 and was selected as a member of the first Team A. Later on, she stated that it was the name Mayumi Natsu, a former choreographer for Morning Musume-a group which she fancies for, that challenged her to take part in the audition. Being part of the first generation of an unknown idol group that time Kojima and her team mates literally struggle from the bottom. When AKB48 released their first single, Sakura no Hanabiratachi, Kojima was, of course, part of it. In the group's second single's promotion video, Skirt, Hirari, Kojima appear as lead singer along with six other members well known as the 'Sukahira Seven'. Since then she participated in every promotion videos as a lead singer alongside other front figures such as Maeda Atsuko,Takahashi Minami and Miyazawa Sae.

On The Net

Her name is dedicated as a domain name for a file storage server, kojima-haruna.ddo.jp. The server hosts numerous AKB48's media file, mostly in form of JPEG images and some medium quality video and audio files. Until early 2008, the files hosted there were named with the pattern harunayanXXXX.ext and harunyanXXXX.ext. Recently the former pattern was dropped. In January 2008 a member popularity poll was held at Stage48, an online comunity of AKB48's fans. Kojima ranked 8th out of 54 girls that time with 46 points. That is 67 points away from the first place winner, Oshima Mai.

Trademarks

Kojima is well known as one of the taller girl in AKB48. She dyed her long hair brunette and part it to the right side of her forehead. She had made some changes to her hair preserving only the way it is parted. Her autograph mimic a girl with hairstyle spelled "Haruna". Although up until today she never confirm whether that is her real autograph or just some kind of "cuteness" joke as a reminder for her fans. Her voice is also distinctive for being at high pitch even in normal speeches. Some people believe that it was just for show, provided that many idol girls speak in that manner too.

Trivia

  • Known to be best friends with former member Komatani Hitomi. Sadly for some reason she was not present when Komatani announced her graduation plan.
  • She dropped out of high school at the age of 16 due to school regulations which does not allow students to work in entertainment industry.
  • Would of rather joined Morning Musume than AKB48.
